Good evening, thanks for joining us, i'm alan van zandt we got that word this afternoon from the mayor after a city council closed session this afternoon to discuss the four finalists for the job.

This is video from just before they went into closed session at 4 p.m.

After finishing up around 5:30, mayor bill mcmurray say there's more work to be done, including criminal background checks..

All four candidates were in st.

Joseph on friday and went through a series of interviews with the council and other community leaders.

The four includes public administration professionals from florida, south dakota, kansas and texas.

Mcmurray knows he and the council have an important decision to make.

(sot: mayor bill mcmurry: "this is a decision we'll live with we would hope for a few years down the road.

We don't want to be hasty.

We're going to reflect a great deal on it and make the right decision."

) mayor bill mcmurray says they hope to have the process wrapped up and a selection officially announced by the end of the week.

For the past couple months, police chief chris connally has been acting as interim city manager.

He has said that he's ready to relenquish those duties and get back to heading up the police department.
