4 times a week, parents in Utica drop their kids off at Edward Singleton's house.

Each year Singleton holds a Summer workout camp.

He normally takes kids to a track, but this year he had to host it at his home in South Utica.

Keeping kids active.

--not at a gym but in his south utica neighborhood.

And as news channel 2's brent kearney now shows us, parents say his fitness camp is needed now more than ever.

"other hands up ready to go, go."

On 4 mornings a week, utica fitness teacher edwin singleton holds a workout camp for neighborhood kids right on his front lawn.

None "i do it every summer for july and august for any kid that's interesting.

This year specifically we just started back in april because just being quarantine the kids have to get out they have to get active.

They were stuck in the house and this was a safe way to do it.

We started with just a few kids so that we can stay separated as the governor opened up each phase we added more kids" every day there's a new routine.

"are usually do some sort of dynamic exercising and core workouts sit ups push-ups things like that we go through the speed ladder for foot agility and quickness."

Rocco giruzzi brings his three boys to singleton's camp every morning.

" i just wanted to get them out during the summer time we're going to speed but work get them in shape.

And they're quite the dynamic trio or as they call it, triple threat.

"what's your name, jared, anthony and rocco."

They're going into first grade and each have their favorite routine.

"i like doing the push ups and sit ups and drills and drills."

Singleton also has some current school athletes on his camp roster.

"its really important when we get back into the season, it could be really hard to do the workouts and stuff.

It helps us stay in shape and work on our footwork and stuff like that."

And as heat moves into the area, singleton says not one of his kids are complaining.

"i just think it's great that these kids are going to get up at 8:30 9 o'clock in the morning work out in this heat for an hour hour and 15 and they don't complain they don't have to be here they don't have to do it but they get up every day and they do it."
