Kaci koviak:the pregnancy help center of lufkin held its 13th annual "denim and diamonds" banquet tonight.for more than 30 years they have been educating, equipping and empowering women to make positive choices when it comes to pregnancy.k-e-t-k's matt thibodeaux reports. since 19-84 the pregnancy help center of lufkin has been helping expecting mothers.as well as mothers of newborns. they do this with mentoring and encouragement,as well as free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds, even diapers. paula havard"our purpose is to help women see that life is a beautiful thing, our motto this year is 'every life has a story worth being written' and we want to help people write those stories."so events like denim and diamonds not only raises moneybut it also gives them a chance to share some of their success storieslike the story of a local woman who sought help when she was considering an abortion.paula havard"that child is now 15 years old, she's a cheerleader, she's doing a great job. the mom went on to get her degree as a nurse and she's just doing fabulous." stories like that help them continue their work.and events like this give them the community support they couldn't survive without. brandon bozeman "with our community support we're able to do things that a lot of organizations would not be able to do. it's just a great community, in lufkin and angelina county, to serve in. without the community it would be hard to succeed."matt thibodeauxthe pregnancy help center says every life has a story and some of those stories have turned former clients into volunteers working toward the same goal they say helped them.megan linton"they were there for me during highs and lows, it's easier to be there for someone knowing that i've been there in that situation."and what better way to give back than to help those who helped you? matt thibodeaux ketk
