On Friday, in defiance of other world powers, US President Donald Trump is expected to strike a blow against the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, choosing not to certify that Tehran is complying with the deal in a major reversal of US policy. While experts claim that Trump is unlikely to pull the United States out of the agreement, he is expected to give the US Congress just sixty days to decide whether to reimpose economic sanctions on Tehran that were lifted by the original agreement. This would increase tension with Iran while also putting Washington at odds with other major world powers, including Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China, and the European Union.
