This same event occurred on Mars this past month. According to mnn.com, “NASA’s Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution orbiter… [recorded] a planet-wide aurora 25 times brighter than anything previously observed.” Don Hassler, RAD principal investigator, told the press, “It’s the biggest we’ve seen on the surface so far. It will improve our understanding of how such solar events affect the Martian environment.”
