Transcript: After attack near mosques, British Muslims fear they may be targeted

I.

In the small hours Monday morning at about twenty minutes after twelve.

The driver and two a group of Muslim worshippers who really prayers.

Ten people were injured.

One man died at the scene.

The attack took place in the industry park area which is a vibrant multicultural area North London.

Police say they are treating this as a terrorist attack and that the driver of the van has been detained on terrorism offenses.

There have been a string of attacks in London.

This is the third terrorist attack in three months and all of these ones in the British capital have used vehicle as a weapon.

As I set hit two weeks ago.

That has been far too much tolerance extremism in our country over many years.

And that means extremism of any kind including Islamic phobia.

This particular attack which appears to be targeted at the Muslim community is really raising fears that a lot of Muslims have long held that they could be singled out.

That they could be caught in the cross fire of the war.

Not of their own making use of fear that ordinary Muslims going about their business would be targeted as revenge.

And even before this six meeting has said that they had seen a sharp rise in hate crimes.

It was in the month of Ramadan.

It's very harsh policy not normal what's the sketch of the most exciting he needs.

We don't when it is anybody saying the Congo about penalized for that fifteen vulnerable skit.

In a stunning twist last night the attacker was possibly saved from harm by a local mom.

Who is being hailed as a hero for appealing for calm.

Even as an angry mob surrounded the driver of the van.

He told the crowd that the man should not be touched DN mom and flagged down a passing police car and told the officers.

There's a mob attempting to hurt him if you don't take him god forbid he might be seriously hurt.

We managed to surround him and two protecting from any home.

We spoke to we stopped cold feet of attack views towards the fellow coming from every angle.
