United DJ Radio Launch The First Ever Heritage Chart!

The chart also heralds Dr Fox’s return to the airwaves on Sunday 26th July 1pm – 3pm, via www.uniteddj.com (DAB Portsmouth & Norwich) when Foxy (DJ Neil Fox), who formerly presented The Network Chart Show will be announcing the first ever heritage chart run down and thereafter on his United DJs show every Sunday afternoon.

The chart features excellent new music from heritage artists, which the station intersperses with seven decades of ‘no holds barred’ great tunes. In a climate where many radio stations are tightening their playlists and often ignore classic household favourites, United DJs are embracing timeless and wonderful new music from former chart toppers.

The country’s first-ever Heritage Chart
takes off on Sunday 26th July 1.00-300pm and will be hosted by former Radio Luxembourg, Capital FM and Magic Breakfast legend Neil “Doctor” Fox. One of the UK’s best-loved broadcasters, the multi-award winning TV and radio star became a household name presenting the Pepsi Network Chart Show on radio and TV, and of course as a judge on Pop Idol.
He joins a station with a stellar line up of ‘old school’ names from Radio that includes; Station founder Tony Prince (aka Radio Luxembourg’s Royal Ruler) former Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Saturday Superstore & TOTP presenter Mike Read, Reggae legend Eddy Grant, Emperor Rosko, David Hamilton and many more DJ’s broadcasting 24/7 from all around the world.

On his return to radio Neil Fox has this to say:

"When Tony Prince and Mike Read approached me about hosting the brand new weekly Heritage Chart, it felt like a perfect fit. I love doing countdowns…and I love being on-air. I can’t wait to get back to doing a weekly run down! ”

The chart will be compiled each week by the stations DJ’s, overseen by Mike Read and Neil Fox. For heritage artists the chart is a welcome innovation.

“The bulk of music-lovers aged over 50 – and there are millions in the UK – stay loyal to their favourite artists. I know this for a fact. The attachment they feel is palpable at times. Concerts can be great gatherings of like-minded people. Their radios will be tuned to the station that best represents their tastes and requirements. How good to know a Heritage Chart is being created by www.uniteddj.com. Good guys. Good ideas”…STEVE HARLEY

“This is my kind of radio station! I’ve been waiting for the last decade to have a radio station come along that I can listen to all day, that plays the music of artists that created and are still creating the music that is and will be our musical heritage...To have a Heritage Chart is the perfect vehicle to feature these artists and it’s wonderful to finally have a radio station with the talent and enthusiasm of the DJ’s who grew up with and have supported these heritage artists.....New music is New Music....When I was sitting in isolation recording my new song “In these Crazy Times” and thinking “I wonder if anyone will hear this” and now to find it in the Heritage Chart has brought a smile to my face ....I realise I was only reflecting everyone’s thoughts...and perhaps that is the connection music has anyway...Thank You”
JOHN LODGE (MOODY BLUES)

“We Love United DJs Radio anyway, but even more now they have a Heritage Chart. So good to hear great music from any genre of artist. It’s about the music, not the age.”THE FIZZ
